The Role

 

designaffairs is a strategic design consultancy that is creating change and disrupting the world in the second machine age. Our Portland studio is looking for a mid-level UX designer to execute our user experience mission, to peak experiences. We need someone who can work across a multidisciplinary team and dive in where necessary to create innovation and exceptional design. We want a generalist with deep UX skills.

UX Designers are heroes that get the work done. As a designaffairs UX designer you will lead product research, strategy, information architecture development, and interaction design for holistic products, services and experiences. Your work will provide the structure for innovative concepts solving on the ground design challenges for the client and team’s vision. You should be a highly empathetic individual, have a passion for making people’s lives better, and thrive in ambiguity. You should know how to discover, understand and communicate the business requirements for client projects, the user needs and how the two come together. Finally, you want to jump into the process where necessary to make it all happen whether it is in consumer products, software or strategy.

Details

 

This position requires an experience executing user experiences across a variety of products.

 

  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct user requirements reviews, task analysis, information architecture, interaction design and usability tests.
  • Design and document user interfaces and information architecture through collaborative and iterative design techniques. Those could include customer interviews, usability tests, and other forms of discovery.
  • Create documentation including specifications, personas, storyboards, flowcharts, senarios,
  • Develop clickable prototypes
  • Clearly communicate research synthesis, concepts, and design rationale both verbally and visually.
  • Manage the design process, drive decisions, track issues, and estimate resource schedules.
  • Participate as a contributor to an interdisciplinary team that includes other designers, business and brand strategists, and hardware and software developers.
  • 3+ years of user interface design, processes and methodology
  • Solid project and people management skills. Be able to take the lead or contribute
  • Proficiency in as AdobeCC, Sketch, InVision, and Framer.
  • Knowledge of limitations of web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Bachelors degree in Human-Computer Interaction, a related design or behavioral science discipline.
